Qatar Six Senses Spa – Part One
After spending three weeks in Kuwait I happily arrived in Qatar. My second visit there. My first interaction with a native of a particular country I’m visiting is the immigration officers. As always in Qatar they were friendly, welcoming, and with a smile. Pity all immigration officers aren’t like that!
It was a great pleasure to be back at the Six Senses Spa, part of the Ritz-Carlton hotel chain (lovely lunch time buffet!) and situated in the Moroccan-esq Sharq Village. In-fact the spa is Moroccan in its design with its tranquil water moat and cascading chain waterfall featured entrance, sand stone walls and Arabic concepts.
The spa has some of my favorite staff, always friendly and helpful and a joy to work along-side. Last year they took me on a ‘dune bashing’ trip in the Qatari desert. Not for those who don’t like being on roller-coasters, or a fear of heights as some of the dunes can be quite steep!
That reminds me of a client I helped last year for his fear of heights (and spiders). His fear didn’t prevent him from leading his life as such, it’s just that he wanted to go skiing with his friends that year. He emailed me a few months after his QEPR treatment saying his holiday was a complete success – no fear and no broken bones!
A couple of years ago I even worked with a world champion snow boarder. She wanted me to help her increase her competition performance and self-belief whilst doing complex maneuvers. QEPR ‘tapping’ is great for that kind of thing, it’s mostly about removing irrational fears and worries to boost focus and confidence in your abilities and talent.
Qatar itself is quite pleasant with a few interesting things to do and see. Notably, the water-front long Corniche which is great for a stroll or early evening run, if you don’t mind the noisy traffic that run on the other side of it! Also of interest is the famed ‘Museum of Islamic’ Arts’ with its interesting architecture – a Qatari show-piece, the ‘Pearl’ shopping area with its harbor front cafes and restaurants, the cities Government buildings and quiet (empty?) futuristic offices and sky scrapers.
I enjoy walking around the huge shopping malls – a main Qatari past-time! Villagio mall for example is spectacular in its Venetian design, complete with waterways and Gondolas! I also enjoy visiting the main ‘Souk’ market with its variety of small shops and fine Arabic eateries.
